Needs to follow same hygiene standards as human food productions
The Real Pet Food Company in Wales produces high end premium branded pet food. Like in human food manufacturing, adherence to strict hygiene standards is essential to prevent contamination. This includes regular cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and waste storage areas to prevent the growth of bacteria and other pathogens.
Besides organic waste materials, efficient recycling and disposal processes for packaging materials like cardboard and plastic must be in place. This not only maintains high standards of hygiene, which is essential for the quality of the products, but also maintains an organized and safe manufacturing environment.
Air powered baler hygienically disposes of waste
To handle cardboard and plastic waste, Mil-tek installed a 2205 vertical baler within one area of the facility generating the waste.
With its small footprint, the 2205 baler sits perfectly next to the production line, so staff can dispose of waste immediately without having to “walk the waste”. Also, being air-powered and therefore with no oil-parts, the machine is perfect for hygiene and cross contamination risks.
Considering an additional baler in production
The satisfaction with the new baler and optimised waste management quickly became apparent. Staff now had far fewer trips to the bins, doors were open less often, cleanliness increased and so did hygiene – ensuring that the Real Petfood Company could maintain production of quality products.
