Fast technology for cardboard and the road

Skjern Motorcycles are saving space and keeping the workshop nice and tidy, all with the help of the fast Mil-tek A406 pneumatic cardboard baler.

Besides changing things inside, they have also removed the large cardboard container outside, giving customers a much cleaner welcome when they arrive at the shop.

Skjern Motorcycles was established in 1974 by two brothers in western Denmark. Driven by a love of motorcycles, they have been selling and servicing motorcycles for upwards of 50 years.

As a licenced Yamaha and Kawaski dealership, Skjern MC is keenly focused on helping customers, no matter the problem.

Throughout their daily operations, the team handle large amounts of packaging waste from the motorcycles and parts in the shop.

Without realising the extent of the issue, they recognised there was a need to change the process and establish a better order to the waste management processes in the shop.

Having identified the issue as being centred around packaging waste, Skjern MC contacted Mil-tek.

Following an onsite survey, it was recommended to install a Model A406 cardboard and plastic baler. The wider door frame of the A406 seemed most suitable for the bulky boxes and cardboard packaging that the team handle in-store and there was a readily available supply of compressed air already available.

What started as an intention to clear up excess packaging quickly grew into something more as the team realised the benefits of better waste management.

With the shop floor clear of cardboard, there was more room for the team to work. All of the cardboard that normally went into the container now went into the baler, meaning the waste container did not fill up so quickly.

Furthermore, they saved on trips outside to the waste container, which meant that the doors stayed closed. This had the added benefit of keeping the shop warm, clean and dry with further savings on heating and electricity.
